Back to Blue?

When the pilot episode opens up, Donald is wearing his standard blue sailor suit. When he’s ready to go to his job interview and has to stop by Scrooge’s place for the first time in years, he’s in an outfit where the color blue is still prominent, but it’s significantly darker.

When Glomgold hires Donald, blue is completely removed and black becomes his main color.

Dunno if this was intentional or not, but it’s pretty interesting how Donald’s outfit starts out much lighter, then eventually fades into black when he goes back to living with someone he’s still harboring negative feelings towards. I’ve seen speculations in the past where fans have wondered if Donald’s black suit could partially represent how he’s mourning the lost of his sister during this point of the series.
I think this could be true, but the main reason why Donald is wearing black now is that it’s meant to be homage to Donald’s outfit in the Carl Barks comics.
And, well, Louie threw his blue suit in the dishwasher.

Well, and, Dewey left the engine in the houseboat running; possibly destroying any other blue suits Donald owned.

But if there really is a grieving element in this, Della’s alive now and the family’s back together. There’s no longer a reason for him to be sad, so could we possibly expect a wardrobe revert in Season 3 to reflect this?
