Duck Blush (Woo-oo, lol)

 

More personal thoughts in a similar style to my "How I Ship Delpad" post.

I hinted in the bonus comic for the "Together" post, that Launchpad glows when he blushes. If LP was in the cosmic storm, I thought it would be amusing if this was another thing that was affected by his mutation. He's a little self-conscious about it; perhaps he's sensed that this isn't normal, or someone previously reacted to it in a certain way, so, he usually tries to hide it or tries his best to prevent himself from blushing all together.

I don't remember ever expecting him to actually blush like this in the show when I came up with the idea, but...it is kinda weird that we've never seen him blush...,not even during that whole dramatic scene that jumpstarted his short-lived crush on Penumbra. That would have been the perfect time to do that...the fact that this continued into Season 3, where there's a lot more blushing going on than the other seasons, seemed like it was going to be reserved for a special moment...🤔

Maybe it's nothing...but it's fun to wonder. :U

The normal duck blush isn't quite like the show either. I did a bit of my own thing with lined tone on top of both examples.  Figuring out where to place it can be sorta tricky for these characters. The cheek areas on their faces are interchangeable; sometimes they're part of the beak and other times, they're separated from it. And because the beak sits on the eyes, my brain is tempted to see the moderate blush as a sign of being sick or tired. x_x

It also feels like I drew LP's arms wrong...they seem longer than they should be...? Trying not to let it bother me much. It's an extreme and frantic pose...all of this is just a demonstration where the face matters most. I should try to do better with a more serious drawing.

i was going to adjust the background brightness to match the intensity levels,

i forgot after i already made a lot of saving, i got impatient

 oh well

i wanna do something northern-lights-esque with lp so bad

maybe i could work that into the moderate blush some other time? hmmm
