The Duck Cousins and How They Relate to The Kids:

(Aside from the obvious, of course.)

  • All five episodes highlighted similar behaviors between the members of both groups. “The House of the Lucky Gander!” and “The Depths of Cousin Fethry!“ lean into this a bit further by assigning the kid and cousin by color. Donald used to wear blue like Dewey but he’s often depicted in black and Della doesn’t share any colors with Webby; causing the pattern to break a little on their end.
  • Louie, Huey and Webby admired the Duck Cousin they were assigned to. Dewey doesn’t normally admire Donald, but he was the first to show appreciation towards him in “The Shadow War!“
  • Dewey is normally compared to Della and shares a much stronger connection with her, but I think the biggest thing he has in common with Donald is his desire to be cool. They’ve both been described as having a devil-may-care attitude as well.
  • Louie and Huey are disappointed when they come to realize that their cousins aren’t exactly who they expected them to be. Louie viewed Gladstone as the better uncle and Huey thought Fethry was a scientist.
  • While Dewey and Della are trying to bring clarity to their situations, they come to realize that they have some apologizing to do. Dewey criticized Donald for ditching his family on Christmas when he was doing that himself. Della tells Webby that she doesn’t need to prove anything to anyone and to just be herself, but she’s hasn’t been holding Launchpad to that same standard. Dewey and Della go through a similar lesson about proving oneself in “Raiders of The Doomsday Vault!”.
  • I loved the scene where the kids and cousins are making the same poses! It further implies that a lot of parallels presented in the show are intentional. These recurring concepts not only give us information about the characters but also subtly hint about what we can expect in the future and how certain things may be connected.

Kinda makes you wonder if there's someone else he shares greater similarities to...
