Sometime after making Houseboat Hug, I thought of possibly making a Della equivalent for Mother's Day at some point to match up with it. 

I had the original pencil drawings saved in a file, ready for the right time, and decided to come back to it five years later. (oh my gosh 😳) Ha...I was NOT loving the finalization process. 🫠 I started to regret the poses...they seemed a little too complicated together. And I couldn't figure out the best placement for Della's hands. It didn't feel like the proportions were correct...and worst of all, the composition was feeling really bland to me. 😕 I wondered if it was the way I did the wall photos that was creating this sentiment, but I didn't want to spend time doing more accurate recreations; not right now...working on the second batch of updates took up a lot of the time I had left to complete this in time. (Spoilers: I did not. I only published the entry on the day of so I could edit this stuff in later. Work smarter, not harder, lmayo.)

Despite how I was feeling about it, I told myself to work on making it more appealing anyway. So, I revised the last two photos (I was actually pleased with Simplified!LP, lol), grabbed a pair of hands from another piece to see if I could adjust them for Della, added hearts, mirrored the background shading effect, added more shading in general, thought maybe I could add some stars, sparkles, and eventually made the shadow better. 

These changes really did the trick! I'm glad I didn't give up on this! I like it a lot more now. 😊 Heh, the lighting in the center with the stars above it kinda makes this area look like planet...it unintentionally lines up with how Della made it back to Earth. Her family is her whole world. 😭

Ugh, it makes me sad that there are people who still think Della's a bad mom or a neglectful character who needed to learn a lesson about being selfish, when it looks an AWFUL LOT like she was just trying to bring her family together...😥 And the show got cancelled before this was fully proven...leaving us stuck with these misconceptions about her. 😔 I'm wondering if that's one of the reasons why Disney hasn't really acknowledged her. I'm planning on making a more in-depth post of other potential reasons in the future...
