I thought it was pretty amusing that these things were mentioned in front of Launchpad...
And in this particular order. 😏
If this was intentional, (which I really do believe) I think this would this be the first time that HDL's original names were hinted at. "Friendship Hates Magic!" was originally listed as 208 (Season 2, Episode 8) in order of production. It would have come right after "What Ever Happened to Della Duck?!".
So, we would have first seen an episode where someone took a questionable risk, got stuck in a place that was difficult to escape from, struggled to make it back to their family and expressed wanting to be a parent to their kids....which would then lead into a story about taking a dangerous risk to bring someone back from a dimension they were trapped in...a connection to a major event the show has gone back to multiple times...and something partially having to do with Launchpad. 🤔
Beakley's line here isn't just a statement; it's another example of the "I'm a pilot" trend LP started. And he's not the only pilot in the cast, so, it makes you want to think of Della too. She even carried the trend herself, twice!
"Jet" was mentioned first, like Huey normally is when the triplets are grouped together. And like I previously pointed out in my essays (and elsewhere), LP was renamed "Jet McQuack" in the Italian dub. This has been in place ever since DT87 was translated, thus making the name look a lot more like a reference than simply choosing something pilot related.
Something else that seems to lean into this, is the E.X.C.E.S.S. event Huey wanted to go to in "Last Crash". Monacrow, is based on the location, Monaco, which is extremely close to Italy. Also in the scene it was mentioned, the flyer contained things like the phrase "Fun for Dad!", a scientist holding some kind of firecracker-like explosive, flying with a rocket-powered skateboard, wearing a lot of green, and a robot at the bottom, wearing a partially red hat, with a time device around its neck...🤔 There's a part of me that wants to prevent myself from saying it looks like the robot is upset that its being left behind by the scientist and wants to go after him, but if this truly is supposed to represent Delpad in a way, is it really all that far of a stretch? (...Heh...the fact that the green-clad scientist is wearing a helmet, suddenly reminds me of Launchpad's race with B.U.D.D.Y...anyway)
Another thing that could support the notion of "Jet" being a meta reference to LP, is that Huey was mainly behind the Italian theming of Fenton's date in "Dangerous Chemistry".
"Turbo" was mentioned second, like Dewey is when the boys are grouped together. Launchpad's name has been "Turbo McKwek" in the Dutch dub ever since DT87. So, now, that makes two names of the triplets that lead back to him and further increases the chance that this wasn't a coincidence. Dewey has emphasized his would-be name multiple times after learning about it and was already set as LP's best friend in Season 1. There are many similarities between themselves and Della. There have even been scenes where they mimic each other!
Some hints that the writers could have been well aware of Launchpad being named Turbo, is the Turbo Boost he had with him in "Coot". Its main color is gold, which falls in line with LP's chauffeur outfit and the lightning bolt could have a double meaning by representing his involvement in the cosmic storm. The hamster running the device had super strength; a side effect Launchpad could have experienced afterwards. I'm not completely sure about this one, but during the "Quack Pack!" scene where Launchpad was confronted by his dates, one of them mentioned a balloon ride to Aruba. This real-life location is an island in the Kingdom of The Netherlands. Where they speak Dutch. 😏
"Rebel" wasn't mentioned at all, but it came last when Della revealed what she told Donald. I had wondered if the name came from breaking the pattern of being an aviation word or a dubbing reference, but now, I wonder if it more so has to do with the way LP was acting before the storm happened. Or that this is referring to how he doesn't have a pilot license. He keeps calling himself one without officially meeting the requirements. He's rebelling against the law.
Heh, Louie had a similar moment of cheating his way to a profession in "Richest Duck".
Because of this, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this was a crazy, yet subtle, deep cut
